Elected to the United I.S.D. Board of Trustees in November 2010, Mr. Javier Montemayor, Jr. is the Board representative for District 5.
A practicing attorney since 1997, Mr. Montemayor earned his law degree from Texas Southern University and his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Southwest Texas State University.
Currently, Mr. Montemayor maintains a private law practice. His previous work experience includes working as an Assistant District Attorney for Webb and Zapata Counties and as an Associate Attorney for the Law Office of David D. Garcia in Laredo. Before practicing law, Mr. Montemayor worked with the City of Laredo as a Compliance Officer in the Community Development Department and with the South Texas Development Council.
Mr. Montemayor is an active member of the community. He has served as chairman of the Webb County Democratic Party and was a member of the Ad Hoc Ethics Advisory Committee with the City of Laredo. His many professional organizations include the State Bar of Texas and Webb County Bar Association.
Mr. Montemayor is also affiliated with the Texas Association of Sports Officials, the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Laredo, Border Olympics, Leadership Laredo, and the Laredo Center for the Arts, among others.
He is the proud son of the late Javier Sr. and Catalina Montemayor. His father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, a local educator, and a well-known attorney. His mother was an educator for many years and retired from United I.S.D. Mr. Montemayor has one daughter, Alexandra Isabel Montemayor.
As the Board Member for District 5, Mr. Montemayor represents Alexander and United High Schools, Clark, Trautmann and United Middle Schools, and Clark, Gutierrez, Nye and Trautmann Elementary Schools.
